From April 17 to 20, 2026, 6th IEEE International Conference on Cybernetics was held at the International Conference Center in the Xianlin Campus of Nanjing University. Centered on the theme Cybernetics: Shaping the Future of Artificial Intelligence, the conference was sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and undertaken by Nanjing University. Scholars and experts from 15 countries and regions across the globe gathered in Nanjing to jointly discuss cutting-edge advances and future trends in cybernetics and related fields.
On the morning of April 18, the opening ceremony was solemnly held in the Zijin Hall of NJU International Conference Center. Li Xinghua, Party Secretary, and Professor Zhou Kemin, Dean of the School of Robotics and Automation, attended the ceremony.

Professor Zhou Kemin delivered a welcome speech on behalf of Nanjing University and the School of Robotics and Automation, extending sincere greetings to experts and scholars worldwide. He briefed them on the university’s over 120 years of educational heritage and the rapid progress of the school. Later, Professor Giancarlo Fortino delivered remarks on behalf of the IEEE SMC Society, speaking highly of the conference’s meticulous organization and outstanding academic standards.

The conference featured 8 oral presentation sessions and 2 poster sessions, covering a wide range of research themes including classical control, quantum engineering, autonomous systems and robotic control, as well as AI-enabled healthcare and human-centric computing.
Professor Chen Chunlin (IEEE Fellow), Vice Dean of the School of Robotics and Automation at Nanjing University, served as Chair of the 6th conference.

Since its establishment in May 2025, the School of Robotics and Automation has centered on a three-in-one innovative education system integrating robotics, automation and artificial intelligence. Taking this conference as an opportunity, it will further deepen cooperation with world-class research institutions, boost in-depth integration of cutting-edge research and industrial applications, and contribute Nanjing University's strength to the advancement of global cybernetics and robotics research.
