On 21 October, Chen Jie, Director and Co-President of the Tsinghua Unigroup and Chairman of Tsinghua Unigroup Guoxin Microelectronics Co., Ltd., led a delegation to visit Nanjing University. Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, met with Chen Jie and his delegation at the Xianlin Campus. The two sides exchanged views on further expanding university-industry collaboration.

Tan Tieniu, on behalf of the university, welcomed Chen Jie and his delegation. He noted that NJU possesses a rich heritage of history and culture, and is characterised by a pragmatic, unassuming and rigorous academic ethos, having made unique contributions to China's higher education and scientific and technological endeavours. In recent years, the university has borne in mind General Secretary Xi Jinping's earnest exhortation to "ground universities firmly in Chinese soil", fully implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important reply to our university's young scholars returning from overseas studies, and thoroughly carried out the "Forging Ahead Initiative" to accelerate the development of the "Unique Nanjing University"—a world-class institution with Chinese characteristics. Tsinghua Unigroup is a globally competitive enterprise in the intelligent technology sector. Both the university and the enterprise focus on major national strategic needs and are committed to contributing to the resolution of "bottleneck" issues; they share a high degree of alignment in their primary responsibilities and core missions of serving national strategy, with a solid foundation for cooperation and vast scope for collaboration. It is hoped that both parties will take this exchange as an opportunity to move forward hand in hand, engaging in comprehensive cooperation in areas such as scientific and technological research, talent development, and the integration of industry, academia and research, thereby jointly helping China's intelligent technology industry achieve self-reliance and self-strengthening.
Chen Jie expressed his gratitude to NJU for its long-standing care and support, and outlined Tsinghua Unigroup's strategic direction, industrial layout and overall development. He stated that at the 2026 Unigroup Innovation Summit, the Group had firmly established its strategic focus on the three core pillar sectors of "semiconductor chips, ICT communications infrastructure and AI", and had formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement with NJU to promote deeper, practical collaboration between the two parties in numerous cutting-edge fields, including two-dimensional material semiconductors, integrated circuits and artificial intelligence. This visit would also mark the unveiling of the joint laboratory established by both parties. He expressed the hope that this would serve as a new starting point to further strengthen cooperation between the two parties in the area of collaborative innovation across industry, academia and research, and to work together to accelerate the transformation of cutting-edge scientific research achievements into industrial applications, thereby achieving a higher level of mutually beneficial development.
