On August 13, Wen Hongwu, Chairman and Party Secretary of the China Publishing Group, led a delegation to conduct research at the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University. Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, met with Wen Hongwu and his delegation. Zhou Xiaohogn, University Distinguished Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences, attended the meeting.
Tan Tieniu warmly welcomed the visit of Wen Hongwu and his delegation and expressed gratitude for the long-term support and assistance that the China Publishing Group has provided to NJU. He highlighted the deep connections and solid cooperation foundation between NJU and the China Publishing Group, noting their long-standing collaborative history, broad coverage, and wide-ranging fields of cooperation. The two parties have maintained close communication and collaboration, jointly contributing to the development of China's philosophy and social sciences. Tan Tieniu stated that this year is a crucial starting year for the "15th Five-Year Plan." He hoped the two parties would continue to strive forward, work hand in hand, expand practical cooperation, and make a greater contribution to the high-quality development of China's philosophy and social sciences.
Wen Hongwu expressed gratitude for NJU's long-standing support for the China Publishing Group. He pointed out that NJU has a profound heritage and strong disciplinary strength, making it a significant strategic partner of the group. As a large-scale publishing and cultural communication enterprise managed by the central government, the group has consistently remembered its responsibilities and mission to actively serve national strategies. By connecting to the high-quality research demands through organized publishing, they aim to promote the efficient dissemination and transformation of academic achievements. Going forward, efforts should be made to establish a more comprehensive and closer cooperation mechanism to refine plans, implement initiatives step by step, and elevate the partnership to a new level.
The discussion was chaired by Suo Wenbin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC NJU Committee and Vice President of NJU. Suo Wenbin provided an overview of the campus construction, academic development, talent cultivation, faculty team, open education, and university-enterprise collaborations, as well as the achievements of the university's "Forging Ahead Initiative."
Zang Yongqing, Member of the Party Leadership Group of the China Publishing Group and Deputy General Manager of China Publishing & Media Holdings Co., Ltd., introduced the group's development and reviewed the significant outcomes achieved through long-term cooperation between both parties. He also proposed suggestions for deepening future collaboration.
During the session, both parties conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on major book publications, academic journal development, research achievements transformation, open access to resources, and international communication cooperation. Both sides expressed their commitment to further deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation, promoting the integration and synergies between academia and publishing, and contributing jointly to the accelerated construction of an independent knowledge system for Chinese philosophy and social sciences.
During the research visit, Wen Hongwu and his delegation also toured the Suzhou Campus Library and the NJU Institute of Micro-Nano Fabrication and Integration Technology (Suzhou). They listened to detailed reports on NJU's efforts in cultural relic and ancient book protection and restoration, the intelligent upgrading of campus infrastructure, as well as the university's latest research results in cutting-edge areas such as integrated circuit materials, core components, chip design, and process manufacturing.
