From July 8 to 10, the 2026 Young Teachers' National Conditions Training Course titled "Cultivating the Spirit of Educators, Courageously Shouldering the Mission of 'Great Teachers'" was held on Xianlin Campus. The launching ceremony of the training program was held in both Taoyuan and the Kuang Yaming College Lecture Hall. Wen Yu, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC NJU Committee, Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC NJU Committee, and Head of the Faculty Affairs Department of the CPC NJU Committee, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.
Wen Yu noted that organizing the national conditions training program is a key task in deeply implementing the Party Central Committee's significant decisions on strengthening and improving ideological and political work in higher education institutions and on faculty development. It is an essential measure to help teachers improve their political literacy and take the initiative to shoulder the mission of serving the country through science and education. It is also a vital platform for enhancing communication and exchanging experience among educators.
At the launching ceremony, Wen Yu, representing the university, presented the book Reading Nanjing University to a representative of the training participants. The participants visited the statue of Mr. Tao Xingzhi at Taoyuan, paying tribute to the distinguished alumnus for his pioneering contributions to China's education cause. They also watched a special documentary, The Spirit of a Teacher, in commemoration of the 120th birth anniversary of the President Kuang Yaming. The documentary provided a profound review of President Kuang's legendary life as a revolutionary, educator, and scholar, as well as his immortal contributions to NJU and the development of China's higher education.
Subsequently, all participants visited the China Teachers Museum, which serves as the Ministry of Education's base for building teacher ethics and conduct, to undertake specialized training. This training integrated theoretical study with practical teaching through various formats such as thematic seminars, on-site education, and discussion and exchange, guiding participants to draw nourishment from Chinese traditional culture in the wisdom of predecessors, to deeply comprehend the essence of the educators' spirit rooted in historical heritage, and to explore its resonance in the contemporary era.
At the Confucius Cultural Square of Qufu Normal University, the training program held a "Teacher's Virtue and Courtesy" oath-taking ceremony. All participants worshipped the Supreme Sage and Foremost Teacher in front of the statue of Confucius and recited the oath of people's teachers together, further strengthening their professional honor, historical mission, and social responsibility as teachers.
Fu Yongju, former president of Qufu Normal University and the first director of the Confucius Research Institute, delivered a keynote lecture titled "The Basic Spirit of Chinese Culture and Cultural Confidence" for the participants. Centered around "cultural confidence," he systematically analyzed its significance, connotation, and approach to practice. From the dual dimensions of history and reality, he pointed out that cultural confidence is the spiritual foundation for the nation's rejuvenation. He called on educators to cultivate moral character and shape people through culture, contributing spiritual strength to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
The training program also conducted on-site teaching activities at the China Teachers Museum. Participants engaged in immersive study sessions exploring exhibitions. They appreciated the legacy of the teaching profession, revered model educators, refined their professional ideals, and further understood the inheritance and development of educators' spirit from traditional Chinese teacher culture to the new era.
During a discussion and exchange session, participants engaged in in-depth conversations regarding the growth and development of young teachers and provided valuable opinions and suggestions for the university's faculty work and talent management. The discussions were lively and deeply engaging.
At the launching ceremony of the training program, NJU's "Wholehearted Dedication to Serving the Country" lecture series was officially initiated. Professor Li Chuan, Chief Designer of the "Xihe" Satellite Science and Application System and a professor from School of Astronomy and Space Science, gave a presentation in Qufu to the training participants titled "Embarking on a New Journey of Serving the Nation with Science and Technology: 'Xihe' Chasing the Sun and Exploring the Heavens Again."
The participants expressed that they gained rich and valuable insights from this training program. They felt deeply honored to carry the mission of educating the next generation and pledged to strongly root their work in cultural foundations, carry forward the original intentions of education, and transform what they learned into tangible actions in their teaching and research. They are committed to increasing their sense of responsibility and mission to contribute to the nation's development through science and education, actively participating in the practical process of building a strong nation in education.
