On July 17, Hu Jun, President of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), led a delegation to visit Nanjing University. Tan Zhemin, President of Nanjing University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, met with the delegation. The two sides held discussions on deepening bilateral cooperation, serving major national strategic needs, and building talent teams.

Tan Zhemin extended a warm welcome to Hu Jun and his delegation. He introduced the basic situation of NJU in terms of its historical development, disciplinary construction, scientific research and innovation, team building, talent cultivation, campus construction, and approach to openness in education. He emphasized NJU's development goals outlined in its 15th Five-Year Plan, as well as key measures to focus on national strategic needs and promote organized scientific research. Tan noted that UESTC and NJU share a deep connection and have maintained close exchanges and cooperation over the years in areas such as teaching, research, and talent cultivation, fostering a profound friendship. He expressed hope that the two universities would further strengthen practical cooperation, learn from each other, work hand in hand, and jointly promote the high-quality development of educational undertakings at both institutions.

Hu Jun provided an overview of UESTC, including its educational journey, talent team building, disciplinary development, talent cultivation, and international cooperation. He mentioned that this year marks the 70th anniversary of UESTC's founding, and the university has maintained a long-standing and solid cooperative relationship with NJU. As both universities prepare for the critical early stages of their 15th Five-Year Plans, Hu expressed hope that they would use this opportunity as a new starting point, leverage their respective educational strengths, focus on major national strategies and local economic and social development needs, complement each other's advantages, work collaboratively, expand the dimensions of cooperation, and jointly open a new chapter in their partnership.

During the session, the two sides conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as talent team building, reform of personnel systems and mechanisms, disciplinary development, and cultivating top-notch innovative talents.
During the visit, Hu Jun and his delegation toured the Nanjing University History Exhibition Hall, the Rare Book and Special Collections Department of the University Library, and the School of Electronic Science and Engineering. They were briefed on the history and achievements of NJU and gained detailed insights into its latest accomplishments in the field of electronic science.
The discussion session was chaired by Zheng Hairong, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC NJU Committee, Executive Vice President of NJU, and Academician of the CAS. Attendees included Xu Hongbing and Zhao Zhiqin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC UEST Committee and Vice Presidents of UESTC, as well as leaders from relevant departments.
