On 30 June 2026, Nanjing University held a commendation ceremony at its Xianlin Campus to mark the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. The ceremony honoured NJU's outstanding Communist Party members, outstanding Party affairs workers and outstanding primary-level Party organisations from NJU. Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), presented commemorative medals to representatives of Party members who had been awardees of "50 Years of Glory in the Party" and delivered a concluding address. Also in attendance were Tan Zhemin, President of NJU and Academician of the CAS; and Xu Hui, the Ministry of Education's Liaison Officer for Party Building in Higher Education Institutions and former President of Hohai University.

On behalf of the University Party Committee, Tan Tieniu extended warm congratulations to the collectives and individuals honoured, and paid high tribute and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the retired Party members and comrades who remain devoted to the University, as well as to all Party members and Party affairs workers across the University who have selflessly dedicated themselves to their work on various fronts. He also introduced and commended, one by one, the many outstanding representatives and exemplary figures who have emerged at the University in recent years.

In his concluding remarks, Tan Tieniu systematically reviewed the grand history of the Communist Party of China's self-governance, self-discipline, revitalisation and strengthening over the past century. He called upon all Party members to rigorously align themselves with General Secretary Xi Jinping's earnest exhortations, drawing upon NJU's over 120-year educational heritage and closely aligning with the university's overarching development objectives, to translate theoretical study into concrete actions that serve the nation's development and advance the university's governance and operations. He encouraged all Party members to use high-quality Party building to guide high-quality development, and to make new and greater contributions to accelerating the construction of a powerhouse in education, science and technology, talent and culture, and to comprehensively advancing the great cause of national rejuvenation through Chinese modernisation.

Since 2021, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China has awarded the "50 Years of Glory in the Party" commemorative medal annually to Party members who have been members for 50 years and have consistently demonstrated exemplary conduct. This year marks the sixth year of the presentation of these medals, and a total of 33 Party members from NJU have received this honour. Tan Tieniu presented the commemorative medals to representatives of the awardees.

Tan Zhemin presented awards to NJU's Outstanding Communist Party Members.

University leaders Liu Miao, Lu Xiancai, Suo Wenbin and Li Bin presented awards to the honoured Outstanding Party Affairs Workers and representatives of Party organisations at Nanjing University.

Jiao Ruihua, Vice Chair of NJU CPC Council, presided over the ceremony and read out the commendation decision.

Four representative Party members among the award-winning staff and students delivered speeches, profoundly illustrating the core beliefs, tenacious character and patriotic spirit of NJU's Communist Party members. Their deeds not only vividly embody the advanced nature of the university's Party membership but also set a benchmark for action for newly admitted young staff and students.
