On 16 June, Nanjing University held an exchange forum for international scholars. Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council and an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, discussed with representatives of international scholars, listened to their views and suggestions on NJU's various initiatives, and exchanged views on NJU's internationalisation and development.

Tan Tieniu welcomed the international scholars for choosing to make NJU their home. He outlined the university's century-long history, its achievements in education and student development, the strengths of its distinctive academic disciplines, as well as its accomplishments and strategic plans in the field of international exchange and cooperation. He pointed out that NJU has consistently upheld a philosophy of openness and is one of the most active universities in China in terms of international exchange and cooperation. International scholars and international students serve as a key benchmark for measuring a university's level of internationalisation; they are also a vital force in driving the university's international development and enhancing its core competitiveness, playing a significant role in NJU's high-quality development. Tan Tieniu stated that the university would continue to focus on the needs and challenges faced by international scholars in their work, research and daily life on campus, and would use high-quality services to empower the overall enhancement of NJU's internationalisation.
During the discussion session, Professor David Paul Shaw from the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, Professor Alexander Nemchin from the School of Earth Sciences and Engineering, Associate Professor Henry William Joseph Reeve from the School of Artificial Intelligence, Postdoctoral Research Fellow Ahmed Ibrahim from the School of Earth Sciences and Engineering, and Abigail Rodrigues Castro, a postdoctoral researcher at the School of Physics, drew upon their respective research fields and experiences of working and living on campus to engage in in-depth discussions on topics including disciplinary development, the optimisation of the curriculum, the development of the English-language website, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the upgrading and optimisation of the academic administration system. They actively offered suggestions and provided valuable advice for enhancing NJU's internationalisation efforts and improving the quality of its educational services.
Gao Fang, Assistant President of NJU and Director of the Office of Humanities and Social Sciences, along with heads of relevant departments including the Human Resources Office, the International Affairs Office, and the Office of Science and Technology, attended the symposium.
