On May 28, the Seventh Representative Assembly of the Nanjing University Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese was held at the Xianlin Campus. Attending the meeting and delivering speeches were Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council, Vice Chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS); Liu Bujian, Deputy Director of the United Front Work Department of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee; and Liu Biao, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairman of the Jiangsu Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese. A congratulatory letter was sent by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese. The assembly elected the seventh committee and leadership team of the Nanjing University Returned Overseas Chinese Federation, with Shi Yi, Academician of the CAS and a professor at the School of Electronic Science and Engineering, being elected as the chairman of its seventh committee.

On behalf of the university's Party committee, Tan Tieniu extended a warm congratulations on the convening of the assembly, expressed a sincere welcome to the attending leaders and guests, and conveyed high respect to leaders at all levels and friends from various circles who have long cared for and supported the development of the Federation. He remarked that, since its establishment 40 years ago, the Returned Overseas Chinese Federation of Nanjing University has, under the strong leadership of the university's Party committee and the robust support of the higher-level federation, adhered to the principle of "people-centred and serving overseas Chinese." It has steadfastly aligned with the university's core missions and united and guided the vast number of returned overseas Chinese and their relatives, achieving remarkable accomplishments in discipline development, talent cultivation, scientific research, international exchange and cooperation, and social service. He fully acknowledged the series of achievements made by the sixth committee of the NJU Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and urged all departments and schools within the university to further recognize the importance of the Federation's work, actively support its initiatives, and create favorable conditions for the Federation to connect and serve overseas Chinese faculty, students, and alumni, as well as to participate in university governance and support international exchanges, ultimately elevating their work to new heights.
