NJU leaders visit faculty, students and staff on New Year's eve

On December 31, as New Year's Day approached, Tan Tieniu, Chair of Nanjing University CPC Council and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Tan Zhemin, President of NJU  and Academician of the CAS, along with other university leaders, conducted safety inspections across various campuses, and extended New Year's greetings to faculty, students, and staff.

Tan Tieniu conducted safety checks on Xianlin campus. At the south gate post, he extended holiday greetings to the security personnel and expressed heartfelt thanks for their hard work. He carefully checked the use of equipment like air conditioning at the post and advised the security staff to stay warm. Tan Tieniu emphasized that the image of security personnel represents NJU's image and hoped they would continue to guard the gates well in the new year, communicating with visitors patiently, warmly, and friendly, and strengthening humane management.

To welcome the New Year, the library held a cultural gathering themed "Books Bring Fortune, Horses Gallop Forward." Faculty, students, and staff gathered to create festive couplets and traditional door gods, experiencing the charm of traditional customs. Tan Tieniu observed the lively activities, exchanged insights with participants, and praised the library's efforts in exploring and preserving excellent Chinese traditional culture. He inquired about the library staff's holiday duty arrangements, hoping they would continue creating a comfortable learning environment for students and faculty.

At the university hospital, Tan Tieniu inquired about recent consultations and advised medical staff to pay attention to their health while fulfilling their duties. He noted that final exams were ongoing and urged the hospital to safeguard students' health, reminding them to manage their health amidst heavy study tasks and uphold the principle of caring for students like family, making them feel the warmth of the community.

In the security office, Tan Tieniu expressed sincere gratitude to the security personnel for their contributions to campus safety and stability. He carefully examined the operation of the remote monitoring system and inquired about its integration with the management of hazardous materials by related departments. He stressed the need to further enhance campus safety through AI, optimize monitoring layouts, promptly address system issues, and improve the system's early warning capabilities to ensure campus safety and stability.

At the School of Environment, Tan Tieniu inspected the management of hazardous materials. He emphasized strengthening monitoring and real-time integration with the campus security office's remote system, using AI video analysis to improve early warning capabilities, preventing risks, eliminating safety hazards, and ensuring comprehensive safety.

Tan Tieniu then visited the construction area of the fourth group, learning about current noise reduction measures and future construction plans. He expressed hope that everyone would continue prioritizing students, promptly addressing their needs, arranging construction plans reasonably, optimizing management, minimizing noise, and controlling dust pollution to reduce the impact on students' learning and living conditions.

Tan Zheming visited the Suzhou campus to inspect campus safety and service assurance, celebrating the festival with faculty and student representatives. At the School of Sustainable Energy and Resources, the School of Integrated Circuits, and the Nanjing-Helsinki Institute in Atmospheric and Earth System Sciences, he warmly greeted the working faculty and students, inquiring about their progress, learning, and living conditions, and extended sincere holiday greetings. He focused on laboratory safety management and equipment maintenance, repeatedly urging units to strengthen baseline thinking, enforce safety responsibilities, and safeguard the teaching and research environment for talent cultivation and academic development.

At the West District Fire Control Center, Tan Zheming visited frontline staff, checked the real-time operation of fire and security systems, and thanked them for their silent dedication to maintaining campus order. He emphasized that safety is paramount and must be persistently managed, implementing detailed security measures with a sense of responsibility to foster a safer, harmonious, and stable campus environment.

In student dormitories, Tan Zheming thanked property service staff for their hard work and interacted with students, inquiring about their exam preparations and experiences at the Suzhou campus. He advised students to manage their time wisely, maintain a balanced state, and prepare well for exams, and urged departments to ensure excellent logistical support during finals, creating warm and convenient living and learning conditions.

At the Eighteenth Dining Hall, a warm "New Year Dumpling" event was underway. Tan Zheming chatted with faculty and students, imagined the new year together, and distributed "fortune bags", wishing everyone smooth work and progress in studies in the new year.

Lu Yanqing, Vice President and Director of the Pukou Campus Management Committee, led a team to conduct safety checks and visit faculty, students, and staff on Pukou campus. At Gate 1, Lu Yanqing extended sincere thanks and holiday greetings to security guards, thoroughly understanding gate management and security duty systems, and proposed specific requirements. In student dormitories, Lu Yanqing engaged with students, inquiring about their academic progress and living conditions, encouraging them to utilize school resources and grow into innovative talents. At new and renovation project sites, Lu Yanqing listened to reports on Pukou campus’s transformation and renovation plans for 2026, reminding departments to enhance safety management and supervision. At the Fifteenth Dining Hall, Lu Yanqing emphasized maintaining meal supply and safety while continuing warm services like "Late Night Canteen" and "One-Cent Breakfast." At the university hospital, Lu Yanqing expressed gratitude and care to medical staff, inquiring about consultations and AED distribution, urging enhanced emergency training for faculty and students. At the campus security office, monitoring facilities reflected real-time campus dynamics, and Lu Yanqing emphasized combining human, technical, and material defenses to maintain campus safety and stability. In the library, Lu Yanqing inquired about students' needs for resources and services, proposing optimization of library resources and enhancing reader experience to meet diverse needs and create a scholarly campus.

Li Bin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Nanjing University Committee, Assistant President of NJU, and Director of the general office, conducted safety checks at the Gulou campus, supervising campus safety management, and emphasized maintaining safety awareness, strengthening responsibility, and creating a safe, stable, harmonious, and orderly campus atmosphere with higher standards and practical measures.

Suo Wenbin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Nanjing University Committee, and Jiang Tian, Assistant President and Executive Deputy Director of the Suzhou Campus Management Committee, accompanied the visits on Suzhou campus.
