19th "Challenge Cup" holds at Nanjing University

On October 31st, the 19th "Challenge Cup" China Mobile National College Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition was held at Nanjing University, jointly hosted by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, China Association for Scienc and Technology, Ministry of Education, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering, All-China Students' Federation, and Jiangsu Provincial People's Government. This "Challenge Cup" competition is co-organized by NJU and the Communist Youth League Jiangsu Provincial Committee, with title sponsorship support from China Mobile Communications Group Co., Ltd.

As an important vehicle for the Communist Youth League to serve university students' scientific and technological innovation, the "Challenge Cup" competition adheres to the purpose of "advocating science, pursuing truth and knowledge, studying diligently, innovating boldly, and meeting challenges." It maintains its original mission, deepens reform and innovation, highlights brand value, drives the continuous output of scientific and technological innovation achievements, and attracts the competitive emergence of young scientific and technological talents.

The 19th "Challenge Cup" competition takes "Youth Taking on Responsibility for ChineseModernization" as its theme, establishing a "1+2+N" work matrix, namely 1 main competition, 2 special competitions of "Challenge-Based Competition" and "AI+", and holding multiple supporting activities such as "Challenge Cup" project matchmaking and transformation meetings, special job fairs, youth development-oriented city and talent policy presentations, and youth scientific and technological innovation study tours.

This competition attracted over 400,000 works from more than 2,700 universities nationwide, with over 3 million students participating. The final judging competition is held from October 31st to November 3rd at NJU, with 640 and 643 works respectively entering the final judging of the main competition and "AI+" special competition. Special prizes, first prizes, and second prizes will be determined through public defense, and universities receiving the "Challenge Cup" and "Excellence Cup" will be determined based on total team scores. Additionally, the "Challenge-Based Competition" special competition will be completed in Beijing, Zhejiang, and 8 main arena cities in 2024 and 2025 respectively.

Hosting this "Challenge Cup" competition at NJU is both an opportunity to showcase NJU's educational level and scientific innovation education effectiveness to college students nationwide, and a window to spread NJU's voice to domestic and international audiences and all sectors of society, demonstrating the new momentum and new achievements of NJU's comprehensive advancement in building a world-class university with Chinese characteristics through "Forging Ahead Initiative." NJU looks forward to presenting a wonderful, distinctive, and memorable "Olympic Games" of college students' extracurricular academic science and technology activities for teachers, students, and the general public nationwide, delivering a satisfactory answer to all participating teachers and students through an excellent, brilliant, and innovative competition celebration.
