From October 21 to 22, Tan Tieniu, Chair of Nanjing University CPC Council and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), led a delegation to Hong Kong, where NJU hosted the "New Era NJU-Hong Kong Scientific and Educational Cooperation Symposium" and held the unveiling ceremony for the "Hong Kong Advanced Research Institute, Nanjing University." During the visit, the delegation also attended the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong-Jiangsu Science and Technology Innovation Center, and visited institutions and universities such as the Hong Kong Jockey Club and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, expanding important resources for further implementing NJU's "Forging Ahead Initiative" and achieving a series of substantive results.
On the morning of October 21, the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong-Jiangsu Science and TechnologyInnovation Center was held at the Cyberport. Zhao Yan, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), and Tang Yingnian, Standing Committee Member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Founding President of the Federation of HK Jiangsu Community Organizations, attended the event and delivered speeches. Tan Tieniu was invited to attend the event and jointly inaugurated the center. The ceremony also announced the establishment of the think tank for the Hong Kong-Jiangsu Science and Technology Innovation Center, and presented appointment letters to honorary chairmen, co-chairmen, innovation and technology mentors, and representatives of scientists and researchers.
As a strategic partner of the Hong Kong-Jiangsu Science and Technology Innovation Center, NJU will leverage its advantages with the center to create an important window for scientific and technological exchanges between Jiangsu and Hong Kong, establish a model for innovation and technology cooperation, produce more leading scientific and technological achievements, and contribute more "NJU wisdom" and "Jiangsu-Hong Kong wisdom" to the nation's self-reliance and strength in science and technology.

Tan Tieniu expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Hong Kong scientific and educational community for their long-term support of NJU's development. He stated that this year marks the comprehensive planning and high-level advancement toward the goal of building a strong nation in education by 2035. He pointed out that standing at a new journey of national development, the cooperation between NJU and Hong Kong's scientific and educational community has also reached a new starting point, and the construction and development of the Hong Kong Advanced Research Institute provides a new platform for further deepening comprehensive scientific and educational cooperation with Hong Kong. NJU sincerely hopes to strengthen cooperation with Hong Kong's scientific and educational community, help regional high-quality development, and jointly serve the national strategies of building a strong nation in education, science, technology and talents.

Peter Yan, Chief Executive Officer at Hong Kong Cyberport, stated that NJU, as a renowned higher education institution, possesses rich educational resources and outstanding research capabilities. He looks forward to more cooperation between the two sides in the future to actively promote the integrated development of science, education, and industry.
Wang Xue'er, Acting Principal Assistant Secretary of the Education Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR, stated that the Government of the Hong Kong SAR has always valued cooperation with NJU, highly commends NJU for leading the establishment of the "Jiangsu-Hong Kong-Macao Higher Education Cooperation Alliance" and its achievements, and looks forward to more practical collaboration with NJU in the future.
Tan Tieniu, Peter Yan, Zhang Xiang (President of the University of Hong Kong), and Teng Jinguang (President of Hong Kong Polytechnic University) jointly unveiled the "Hong Kong Advanced Research Institute, Nanjing University."

Lu Yanqing, Vice President of NJU, chaired the meeting and introduced in detail the construction concept of the Institute. Ding Aijun, Assistant President of NJU, systematically reviewed the key achievements of NJU's cooperation with Hong Kong.
During the exchange and discussion session, representatives conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as university cooperation in the new era, regional and country studies, Chinese studies, AI-empowered education, deep integration of industry, academia, and research, expansion of alumni resources, and research platform construction, and put forward a series of suggestions for further deepening cooperation. The representatives stated that they would rely on the Advanced Research Institute to jointly build bilateral or multilateral research platforms, promote joint talent cultivation, and establish regular exchange mechanisms.
On the afternoon of October 21, Tan Tieniu specially led the delegation to visit the Hong Kong Jockey Club and met with Tam Chi-yuen, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Jockey Club and Adjunct Professor at NJU.

Tan Tieniu reviewed the previous cooperation between NJU and the Hong Kong Jockey Club, and expressed gratitude to Tam Chi-yuen for his continued support of NJU's disciplinary development. He introduced the main achievements of NJU in education in recent years and the establishment of the Hong Kong Advanced Research Institute, Nanjing University.
Tam Chi-yuen extended a warm welcome to the visiting NJU delegation. Both parties had in-depth discussions on future cooperation and agreed to focus on the coordinated development goals of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Delta region, serve society, and solidly advance various work with a pragmatic attitude.
During the visit to Hong Kong, the delegation also participated in the Jiangsu-Hong Kong University Presidents' Roundtable Forum, where Lu Yanqing gave a speech on "Paths and Practices for Deep Integration of Innovation, Technology, and Industry".
Ding Aijun visited Hong Kong Polytechnic University and met with Luo Xuan, Associate Vice President of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and others. Both sides expressed that they would further consolidate and enrich deep cooperation between the two universities through practical project collaboration and talent training programs.
This visit further consolidated the friendly relationship between NJU and Hong Kong's scientific and educational community, and with the construction of the Hong Kong Advanced Research Institute, Nanjing University as a strategic fulcrum, comprehensively expanded new space for scientific and educational cooperation with Hong Kong, powerfully promoting the quality and efficiency of NJU's open education.
