On October 24, the Standing Committee of the CPC Nanjing University Committee held an enlarged meeting to convey and study the spirit of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and research implementation measures. Tan Tieniu, Chair of the CPC NJU Committee, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech.

The meeting emphasized the need to deeply understand the importance of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, further study and comprehend it thoroughly, and provide guidance on refining specific tasks. This plenary session was a very important meeting held on the new journey toward the second centenary goal, comprehensively summarizing and highly evaluating the major achievements in China's development during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, and reviewing and approving "CPCCC's proposals for the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development" which pointed out the direction and path for China's development in the next five years and made top-level design and strategic planning. The plenary session is another general mobilization and deployment to build on momentum and continue advancing Chinese modernization, and is of great significance for further uniting the powerful forces of the entire Party and all ethnic groups in the country to work together for the comprehensive advancement of building a strong country and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese modernization.

The meeting pointed out the need to accurately grasp the major deployments of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. The plenary session further clarified the basic positioning for the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, the guiding principles for economic and social development, the principles that must be followed, and the main objectives, proposing 12 key tasks that should be considered and implemented one by one. Further serving self-reliance and strength in science and technology, as an important component of national strategic scientific and educational forces, NJU should adhere to the "Four Orientations," continuously strengthen organized scientific research, deepen the integration of science and education and the integration of industry and education, cultivating new talents and demonstrating new achievements in developing new quality productive forces; further promoting the construction of an independent knowledge system, promoting the integration of Marxism with the outstanding traditional culture of China, strengthening the construction of "the Unique NJU" philosophy and social sciences with the connotation of "NJU original, NJU masters, NJU school of thought," guiding NJU academic achievements to go global, and enhancing the communication power and influence of Chinese civilization; further strengthening social services, actively serving national strategies and local economic and social development, continuously allocating resources, enhancing scientific research and technological achievement transformation capabilities, focusing on national needs and local development, optimizing and adjusting the discipline layout, promoting better implementation of the "7291" Initiative; further consolidating the foundation for development, adhering to compatibility with national needs, compatibility with the characteristics of the times, and compatibility with student development, continuously promoting the project of moral education, taking the acceleration of building national strategic talent forces as the top priority, continuously strengthening the construction of high-quality talent teams; further coordinating development and security, firmly establishing risk awareness, improving risk response capabilities, enhancing scientific prediction capabilities, coordination capabilities, and emergency response capabilities, promoting scientific and refined risk prevention and control work to ensure campus safety and stability; further strengthening Party leadership, adhering to the reform spirit and strict standards in governing the Party, resolutely implementing the requirements of the Party's self-reform, and promoting the normalization and long-term effectiveness of the Party's construction of style of work; implementing political supervision throughout the entire process and all aspects of university governance.

The meeting emphasized the need to solidly carry out the implementation of the spirit of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. Deeply understand the decisive significance of the "Two Affirmations," consciously achieve the "Two Upholds," and accurately implement the strategic deployment of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the CPC Central Committee in all aspects, links, and processes, promoting the improvement of quality and efficiency in all aspects of the university's work. Systematic planning is needed to quickly set off a wave of learning, publicizing, researching, and interpreting the spirit of the fourth plenary session, making NJU's voice heard and contributing NJU's strength. Further work on the preparation of NJU's "15th Five-Year Plan" should be done around the latest deployments and requirements, planning deeply, practically, and in detail for all tasks. All Party members, cadres, faculty, and staff of the university should adhere to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as guidance, effectively unify their thoughts and actions with the spirit of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, solidly promote the construction of a world-class university with Chinese characteristics, and take new steps and demonstrate new achievements on the new journey of accelerating the building of a leading country in education, science, technology, talent, and culture.
