Tan Tieniu pointed out that ensuring the successful opening of the West District is the top priority for the development of the Suzhou Campus and a crucial part of NJU's high-quality development. The construction of the West District should be vigorously advanced with the three core goals of "safety, quality, and timeline," focusing on high standards and strict requirements to ensure quality implementation. He emphasized that campus infrastructure should adheres to the "people-oriented" concept, fully considering the advices of faculty and students to ensure practicality and usability. The new campus must inherit the spirit of NJU while showcasing the spirit of the times, focusing on building new engineering, new ecology, new mechanisms, new talent, and a new Nanjing University.
The total construction area of the West District of Suzhou Campus is approximately 750,000 square meters, including a student life complex, a cultural and sports center, the North Building complex, a library, a research complex, canteens, and other buildings. Currently, the construction is in the final phase and the West District is expected to be delivered and put into use in August this year.
