Tan Tieniu appointed as Party Secretary of Nanjing University

Tan Tieniu was appointed by the Central Committee of CPC as Secretary of NJU Committee, as Hu Jinbo retired from the position. On the morning of September 23, a video conference, chaired by Lyu Jian, President of NJU, was convened to announce this appointment to the faculty and staff of NJU. Li Xiaoxin, Deputy Director of Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee attended the meeting to proclaim the appointment. Tian Xuejun, Vice Minister of Education, and Zhao Shiyong, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, were present at the meeting and gave their speeches.

NJU authorities, heads of colleges and functional departments, and representatives of the faculty and staff of the University were present at the meeting.

Tan Tieniu, born in October, 1963, Member of CPC, PhD in Engineering, Academician of CAS, previously served as the Vice-President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central Government in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
