“Phoenix Book Fair at NJU” opens

On Apr. 23, the “Phoenix Reading Festival in Jiangsu Universities & Phoenix Book Fair at NJU” opened at Xianlin. Xue Hailin, Deputy Secretary of CPC NJU Committee, and She Jiangtao, Deputy General Manager of Phoenix Publishing & Media Group, attended the ceremony. Huang Xianjin, Chief Curator of NJU Libraries, presided over the event.

Xue Hailin remarked on the significance of the activities centered around World Book Day, as they contribute to nurturing students reading interests and fostering an academic atmosphere on campus. Xue sincerely hoped for the continued support of Phoenix Group and other collaborating partners in supporting NJU Libraries, aiming to achieve a mutually beneficial cooperation.

She Jiangtao pointed out that the physical, auditory, visual, written and mathematical languages are the basic forms for communication that we all need to master more or less. Of the five, written language, despite its relatively late emergence, remains the most prevalent form of communication worldwide. He emphasized the importance of mastering written language through reading, thinking, and writing in an age where new social media rapidly develops. “Written language establishes the strong foundation of human civilization. Reading, thinking, and writing are indispensable for all cultural endeavors.”

Pan Ming, Director of the Department of Publication at Phoenix, and Luo Ping, the Vice Director of the NJU Career Center, launched the “Working as an editor in Phoenix Press” Forum.

Relevant personnel from the Career Center and Youth League Community, together with faculty and students of NJU attended the opening ceremony.

On the day of the Fair, editors from twenty odd imprints of Phoenix Group brought a selection of the books they published to NJU, covering fields from popular history, natural history, biographies, humanities and social science to science fiction and popular science, attracting a great number of NJU students and teachers.
