On the afternoon of April 22, the exhibition in honor of Wu Youxun, one of a series of tributes to the "Great Scholar", was held at the library on NJU Gulou Campus. Zhou Jilin, dean of Youxun Academy, and Huang Xianjin, director of NJU Libraries, jointly unveiled the exhibition. Zhai Xiaojuan, deputy director of NJU Libraries, presided over the event.

In his speech, Zhou paid tribute to Wu Youxun's scientific achievements and educational philosophy. He noted that Wu was a world-renowned physicist who successfully verified the Compton Effect through rigorous experiments and became one of the key founders of modern Chinese physics. After returning to China, Wu devoted his life to scientific research and education. His commitment to scholarship, pragmatism, and modesty vividly embodied the spirit of "Great Scholar." Zhou added that Wu's philosophy of meticulous and persistent scholarship closely aligns with NJU's motto of "Sincerity with Aspiration, Perseverance with Integrity." He encouraged students of Youxun Academy to follow Wu's example, pursue truth with commitment, and devote themselves to basic disciplines while contributing to China's scientific and technological development.

Bao Song, tenure-track assistant professor of the School of Physics at NJU, shared reflections on Wu's scholarly spirit based on his own academic journey. Drawing on his own growth from uncertainty to dedication in scientific research, Bao encouraged students to inherit the spirit of the "Great Scholar", pursue academic excellence, and integrate their personal development into the broader needs of national development.

Student representative Qi Guanchen also expressed his admiration for Professor Wu. Based on his own experience in scientific study and research, he shared his understanding of Wu's belief that "scientific work requires meticulousness and perseverance."

At the opening ceremony, Chen Lili, deputy secretary of the Party committee and deputy dean of College of First-Year Students, and Sun Liyuan, deputy director of NJU Archives, presented certificates to members of the Youxun Spirit Promotion Team.

After the opening ceremony, attendees toured the exhibition under the guidance of students Ning Qifan and Li Wanrong from Youxun Academy.

The "Great Scholar" exhibition series was launched by NJU Library to actively integrate "Three-dimensional Comprehensive Education" into library work. Leveraging its strengths in information resources, talent cultivation, and cultural education, the library collaborates with the university's various departments and colleges, as well as the seven academies of the College of First Year Students, to present this series.

This exhibition was jointly organized by the NJU Library, Youxun Academy, and the university's Committee for the Wellbeing of the Next Generation, with support from NJU Archives and the Wu Youxun Science and Education Center in Gao'an, Jiangxi Province.
