Speaker Profile:
Dr. Gutowski is a Professor Emeritus of Meteorology at lowa State University. His research priorities include understanding climate dynamics and improving regional climate sciences for decision making and climate adaptation and mitigation. Dr. Gutowski is the Lead Author for the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report. He led and participated in major regional climate modeling projects, including the one in East Asia (RMIP). Playing a key leadership role in the Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment (CORDEX), he served as Co-Chair of the CORDEX Science Advisory Team and helping establish international standards for regional climate simulations.
Dr. Gutowski's research centers on the role of atmospheric dynamics in climate, regional climate modelling, etc. In recent years, his studies focus more on the Impacts of climate change on society and natural systems. His work has significantly advanced the understanding of how global climate change affects regional weather patterns, precipitation, and climate extremes around the world.
