Professor Jonathan Cooper, FREng, FRSE, holds The Wolfson Chair in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Glasgow and a Royal Academy of Engineering Research Chair in Global Health Systems. His major research interests are in medical diagnostics, with a track record of spin-out and translation into industry and clinical practice. He has worked extensively in East Africa developing new low-cost diagnostics and their integration through mobile communications into national and regional records systems. He has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK’s national academy of engineering) as well as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (Scotland’s National Academy).
