Prof Martin Blunt is a professor of flow in porous media at Imperial College London.  He has previously taught at Stanford University in the US and worked for BP.  He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society.  He is also an International Member of the US National Academy of Engineering and was a President’s International Fellowship Initiative Distinguished Scientist, from the Chinese Academy of Science. He is a pioneer in the study of multiphase flow in porous materials.  He has been involved in two successful start-up companies, has transformed the characterization and understanding of flow properties by major energy and service companies, and has helped establish flow in porous media as a distinct scientific discipline.
